Carsten Koerl has held various management positions within the software development and gambling industry over the last 20 years. He is the founder of bwin.com and led the company through one of the most successful public listings ever undertaken on the Vienna stock market.
In parallel to the bwin.com success story, Mr. Koerl founded a new company, Sportradar, in 2001 with his Norwegian co-founders. The original objective was to develop a technology-driven data and analytical service for the bookmaker market. Since then, Sportradar has established itself as the world’s leading supplier of sports and betting-related data to the gaming industry.
Sportradar has now significantly expanded its business beyond the gaming sector to include a whole host of sports rights holder and digital content solutions. These include the award-winning Integrity Services that support sports rights holders and law enforcement agencies worldwide combat match manipulation. The company is also a leader when it comes to collecting rich data, processing and packaging it and then distributing in ways that engage fans, followers across a range of platforms and media. All in, the company is scheduled to cover over 325,000 live events across 48 sports this year, including the NFL, the NHL, NASCAR and the ITF’s tennis tournaments.
Mr. Koerl holds a Masters Degree in Electronic and Microprocessor Engineering from the University for Applied Sciences in Constance (Germany).
